God’s Fulfilling Purpose

Psalm 138:8. “The Lord will fulfill His purpose for me.” When I first read this verse, I am filled with comfort. Knowing that the King of Kings, the Creator of the Universe, the Savior of the world, will fulfill His purpose that He intricately and uniquely designed for just me… it is overwhelming and frankly incomprehensible, but in the most encouraging way. I am confident that God has a unique plan for me and that He will bring it to completion at the end of the age. But what is this purpose that will be fulfilled? I think we can all relate and say we have asked this same question. One second, we feel like we have our lives figured out, then the next, we are standing questioning and doubting everything. But I want to encourage you, fellow believer, that God has you exactly where He wants you! The occurrences in your life are no detour or surprise to God - they are purposeful and used for His ultimate plan of redemption for the whole world. He sees your pain. He sees your fear. He sees your doubts. And He sent His son, Jesus, to wipe away every one of those so you could live in freedom in His name. I wish I could tell you exactly why God is doing what He is doing, and what purpose He is ultimately fulfilling for you, but this is what builds up faith. And frankly, if we knew where our life was heading, we would be less dependent on our Creator. We may not know exactly what our purpose is, but we know the Creator of that purpose. Cling to Jesus today and trust that He will fulfill His perfect purpose for you and your life!
