In the Waiting
Has 2025 begun as you anticipated, or has it been filled with unexpected change? Maybe you are in the best season of your life or maybe you have been thrown some curve balls that have you on your knees asking God, “why?” Maybe you or someone you love are experiencing health issues, financial hardships, relationship issues or loss of a loved one.
What I have experienced in my own journey is that God does His best work when we are “in the waiting.” Do you believe that?
Hope is not a situation, an experience, a thing or a location. Hope is a person and His name is Jesus. We all search for hope that won’t disappoint us in the end. If your hope disappoints you, it’s because it’s the wrong hope. Strong hope that does not change (EVER) can only be found in one place, one person: Jesus.
He rules over all the moments that seem to us to be totally out of control. He, in fact, is rescuing us from all the other things that would rule over our lives and draw our attention away from Him. He seeks after us all the days!
1 Peter 1:6-7
“Now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials, so that the tested genuineness of your faith, more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.”
In the world today, those 3 words - grieved, trials and tested - are things that most would hope do not describe their days. But Peter doesn’t see difficulty as objects in the way of God’s plan or as a failure of God’s plan. He knows they are an important part of God’s plan and sure signs of His redemptive love for us.
In grace, He leads us to where we didn’t plan to go, to produce in us what we couldn’t achieve on our own. In all circumstances, He works to change the values of our heart so that you let go of your kingdom of one and give yourself to His kingdom of glory and grace.
God is working when we are in the waiting; and he is working through difficult circumstances to transform us. We will be tempted to wander from Him at times and ask, “Why God?” We must hold steadfast to the Truth that in these moments, we are being blessed with the heart-transforming grace because the God who loves us knows that this is exactly what we need.
We are never alone; God is always with us. Because He controls the details of our lives, He is always near, at any and every moment. He can hear our prayers and crying out to him. Rest is found in trusting the One who has everything figured out for your good and His glory because He is wise, gracious, powerful and faithful. He is worthy of our trust and is able to give your heart rest… In the waiting.
So whatever season you find yourself in, take rest in these claims of faith:
In the waiting, I will surrender my plans to Him.
In the waiting, I will cling to His strength.
In the waiting, I will call upon His comfort.
In the waiting, I will hope in the Lord.
In the waiting, I will praise Him with all my might.
In the waiting, I will trust Him with all of my days.
